Carterton Lions Club are a group of ordinary men and women who want to help their local community, tackling tasks and projects together which they could not achieve as individuals. The Club was established in 1985 with the help of Witney Lions - our 'Mother Club' - and is a part of the largest completely voluntary Service Organisation in the world, Lions Clubs International. There are 45,000 clubs in more than 200 countries with 1.35million members, of which 944 clubs and 20,000 members are in the U.K. and Ireland.  Carterton Lions is a Registered Charity.

Our catchment area covers Carterton and the surrounding villages - from Clanfield to Minster Lovell, from Bampton to Burford.

Each Club is independent as to how it is run and how funds are raised and distributed to whatever needy cause or person they feel they should support. The vast majority of funds Carterton Lions raise are from events such as the Car Boot Sales, Art Exhibition and  our Christmas street collections, these are distributed within the local community and surrounding areas. Carterton Lions currently has 28 members and are always on the lookout for new members. There are no restrictions to becoming a member, all that is required is a commitment to become actively involved in the Club and to help those less fortunate than ourselves.

We meet on the first Tuesday of every month in Carterton and guests are welcome to attend, just advise us that you intend coming. The meetings are quite informal and we not only socialise after meetings but also have a very active Social Events Calendar.
